The Edgar Awards in Human Services are the first awards event to recognize outstanding and remarkable individuals in the field of human services, and those who support human services in New Mexico. They are named after Edgar Helms, founder of Goodwill Industries in 1902 in Boston. It is his leadership and philosophy of caring for the needs of all humanity that drives our mission and our programming.
Each honoree is celebrated at a dinner presented at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Albuquerque in late March of each year, with proceeds from the dinner and accompanying silent auction benefiting Goodwill’s vocational services programs. Each honoree receives a unique award created by a New Mexico artist.
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2009 Edgar Awards. For more information, contact Mary Montano at 505-881-6401, ext. 1879.
