The Edgar Award categories are:
• 2009 Human Services Executive of the Year – Outstanding human services executive at any nonprofit, private or government agency in New Mexico.
• 2009 Human Services Employee of the Year – Outstanding human services employee at any nonprofit, private or government agency in New Mexico. This category may include case managers, nurses, social workers, department heads and more.
• 2009 Human Service Volunteer of the Year – Outstanding volunteer at any human service nonprofit agency in New Mexico.
• 2009 Human Service Organization of the Year - This award honors an outstanding nonprofit organization, school or government agency serving others in New Mexico.
• Chairman’s Award - This award recognizes the achievements of human service workers at the end of their careers.
• 2009 Advocate of the Year - This award honors the accomplishments of those who advocate for the less fortunate.
• 2009 Legislator of the Year – Outstanding legislator championing the cause of human services.
• 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award – To recognize an individual who has dedicated his or her life to human services.
In addition to the six categories listed above, the following three categories are awarded from within the Goodwill community. These are nominated by Goodwill staff and are presented here for your information only.
• 2009 Goodwill Partnering Employer of the Year – Outstanding business in community based employment of Goodwill clients.
• 2009 Goodwill Graduate of the Year – Outstanding graduate of Goodwill’s Workforce Development Program.
• 2009 Shirley J. Herbert Achiever of the Year – Named after one of Goodwill’s most valued employees, this award honors a Goodwill client who has achieved his/her vocational goals with distinction.
