More Than a Thrift Store: Shop With Purpose in New Mexico
When we visit a Goodwill thrift store, we are doing more than searching for a great price. We are supporting a local nonprofit organization dedicated to helping New Mexicans build skills, find employment, and access specialized social services. Goodwill Industries of New Mexico has created a model where community donations become funding for programs that help people move toward greater independence. With 20 stores throughout the state, we give shoppers an opportunity to find quality secondhand items while directly contributing to our mission.
Discover More at Every Goodwill Store
Every Goodwill thrift store offers the possibility of finding something useful, unique, or unexpected. Our inventory comes from generous community donations and includes clothing, shoes, furniture, housewares, books, jewelry, electronics, and more. Because donated merchandise changes constantly, no two shopping trips are exactly alike. We encourage shoppers to browse often, whether they are furnishing a home, refreshing their wardrobe, looking for everyday essentials, or simply enjoying the experience of finding something different.
Your Purchase Creates Local Opportunity
What makes a Goodwill thrift store different is what happens after the sale. Goodwill Industries of New Mexico uses revenue generated through donated goods to help fund free programs and services for qualifying New Mexicans. Our GoodJobs program connects job seekers with employers and provides individualized support from Career Specialists. GoodSkills provides job-readiness training in areas such as employment basics and computer skills. These programs turn everyday purchases into meaningful support for people working toward employment and greater stability.
Donate Items and Support Our Mission
A donation to a Goodwill thrift store can have an impact well beyond clearing out a closet or making room at home. We accept many gently used and new items, including clothing, shoes, furniture, housewares, books, jewelry, electronics, vehicles, and monetary donations. Saleable donations are prepared for our stores, while items that cannot be sold may enter our recycling efforts when possible. Goodwill Industries of New Mexico also offers limited home donation pickups in the Albuquerque and Santa Fe metropolitan areas, making it easier to turn unneeded belongings into support for our community.
Investing in Skills, Employment, and Community
Our impact extends far beyond the sales floor. Through our free services, we support job seekers, young adults, veterans, seniors, and other New Mexicans who need assistance pursuing employment or accessing specialized services. Our programs include youth employment assistance, veteran services, senior employment training, career support, and specialized career training. We also offer hands-on training programs in areas such as solar installation, HVAC and heat pump installation, and production assistance for the New Mexico film and television industry.
Shop, Donate, and Make a Difference in New Mexico
Choosing a Goodwill thrift store gives us a practical way to participate in something larger than a single shopping trip. Every purchase helps generate revenue for services that support New Mexicans, while every accepted donation gives usable items another opportunity to create value. Goodwill Industries of New Mexico keeps 100% of the money made from the sale of donations within the organization and the state, and 88 cents of every dollar spent goes toward programs and services. We also maintain an extensive recycling program that keeps millions of pounds of materials out of landfills each year. When we shop or donate, we are helping create a cycle of value that benefits people, communities, and the environment across New Mexico.
