for honoring our legacy and growing our impact.
For 85 years, Goodwill Industries of New Mexico has been changing lives through the power of work. Since 1941, our community has supported our mission by donating and shopping in our stores — making it possible for us to provide free job training, education, and support services to thousands of New Mexicans every year.
As we celebrate this milestone anniversary, we honor the people, partnerships, and generosity that have shaped our journey. From our earliest days to today’s innovative workforce programs, our commitment remains the same: helping individuals build skills, gain confidence, and achieve independence.
A Legacy Built by Our Community
Goodwill Industries of New Mexico was founded in 1941 with a simple but powerful idea: Donated goods can create opportunity. For more than eight decades, generous community members have donated clothing, housewares, furniture, and other items that fuel our mission. Those donations are sold in our stores, and 88 cents of every dollar we make from those sales the supports programs and services we offer free of charge to individuals and families throughout New Mexico. Along the way, we’ve kept tens of millions of pounds of items out of landfills, too.
What started as a small effort has grown into a statewide impact. Today, Goodwill helps thousands of individuals every year find employment, build job skills, and overcome barriers to stability. Every donation and every purchase helps transform lives and strengthens our communities.

Changing Lives Through the Power of Work
At the heart of Goodwill’s mission is the belief that employment changes lives. Through workforce training, job placement services, youth programs, veteran support services, reentry programs, and specialized career training opportunities, we help individuals take meaningful steps toward self-sufficiency and long-term success.
As workforce needs evolve, Goodwill continues to grow and innovate. Our expanding Clean Tech training programs, including Solar Installer Training and emerging green workforce opportunities, reflect our commitment to preparing New Mexicans for careers that support both economic independence and the future of our state.
85 Years of Impact — And We’re Just Getting Started
Our 85th anniversary is more than a celebration of the past; it is a commitment to the future. Throughout this milestone year, we are highlighting the stories of participants, employees, donors, and partners who make our mission possible. Their journeys remind us that opportunity begins with community support and belief in human potential.
Special anniversary initiatives, community events, and giving opportunities throughout the year invite supporters to join us in continuing this legacy. Together, we are building pathways to employment, stability, and hope for future generations of New Mexicans.
