​Why do I Hear so Much About Donating at the End of The Year?

It’s November which means that you have probably already seen 8-10 donation requests from non-profit organizations.  It’s not a coincidence. The year-end giving season is a big deal.  Nearly one-third (31%) of annual giving occurs in December.  

End of year giving is especially important to Goodwill Industries of New Mexico because we rely entirely on donations to fund the ten free programs and services we offer.  In fact, 88 cents of every dollar generated by the sale of your generous donation is used to fund these programs and services. 

When you donate your stuff to Goodwill Industries of New Mexico, you create opportunities for individuals in your community looking to find a job and build skills, including veterans and military families, seniors, individuals with brain injuries and many others.

In 2015, Goodwill nationally helped more than 9.8 million people access the career, family and financial support services they needed to succeed.  In New Mexico alone we helped nearly 15,000 individuals and when you donate your impact doesn’t end there.  Last year we recycled  11,390,179 pounds of materials and kept it out of New Mexico landfills.
