Time to clean out your closet! Donating your unwanted household items is now easier and more convenient with Goodwill Industries of New Mexico’s new home donation pick-up program. If you don’t have a truck or can’t transport heavy furniture, it’s no problem. Goodwill will come to you. Pickups occur between 8 AM and 3 PM Monday through Friday, and you do not need to be home for Goodwill to collect your donations. There is a minimum of three boxes, bags, or furniture items to qualify for pick-up services, but feel free to donate more than that. Just label your items for “Goodwill pick-up” and make sure they are left outside on the ground level – unfortunately Goodwill is unable to go into your home to gather any donations. Also, make sure your donations are properly covered or packaged to avoid any damage – especially if it rains. A receipt for your tax deductible donation will be left at your front door. At this time, Goodwill is unable to pick up donations in all areas of Albuquerque and New Mexico, but the nonprofit organization hopes to expand the donation pickups in the future. You can schedule your pick-up online using the new online donation pick-up appointment scheduling system. Just type in your zip code and specify your type of pick-up (residential, business, or vehicle) to get started. Goodwill Industries of New Mexico has partnered with Dell to form the Dell Reconnect program where you can recycle your e-waste easily and worry-free. Plus it’s free! Before dropping it off at Goodwill, back up all of your personal information from your computer or device. Dell will systematically clean the drive—wiping it clean to make sure all your data is deleted in compliance with Dell’s Data Security Policy. Also, all physical components of the computer equipment itself are broken down and disposed of safely and properly as specified in the Dell Electronic Disposition Policy instead of being disposed of in landfills and polluting the environment. A great deal for everyone.
